What is shaping the earth’s future?
While the fourth industrial revolution is taking shape, centered on IoT, AI, and robotics, countries and corporations are tackling issues such as poverty, widening inequality, violations of workers’ human rights, climate change and water scarcity.
Initiatives to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) represent these responses and are expanding to a global scale. Humanity has reached a stage where it is necessary to seriously review modern society with respect to the positions of people, countries, and corporations.
In the 70 years since its foundation, Kurita has consistently provided solutions in the fields of water and the environment. Kurita has tackled pollution and other social and environmental issues, providing solutions to water-related challenges across a range of industries. And today, we have grown into a corporate group with operations in over 30 countries.
Kurita’s development has been linked with global trends and the development of industries and it has expanded its business by providing customers with value in the form of solutions to issues related to water and the environment.
Going forward, we will continue to emphasize the customer’s perspective in providing value.
Meanwhile, we are reviewing the value that Kurita can provide from the perspective of solving social issues in light of the changes occurring around the world.
The social issues facing the world today include fields where Kurita’s accumulated technologies and expertise can make a difference, such as a lack of freshwater and climate change as indicated by the SDGs.
Kurita’s technologies can contribute to the recycling and safe reuse of water as well as treating and returning the water to nature. Kurita is focusing on developing advanced technologies relating to wastewater recovery and desalination as the demand for effective use of water sources is increasing around the world.
Climate change, which causes severe problems to water sources, is also our big challenge.
Water treatment contributes to improving energy efficiency by controlling the quality of water used in industries. Kurita is constantly searching for solutions that are useful for energy saving, developing new technologies through these activities and contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions with its customers.
As such, we believe that Kurita can provide value to society through its businesses by working on these themes.
With the spirit of our corporate philosophy, “Study the properties of water, master them, and we will create an environment in which nature and man are in harmony,” Kurita will continue providing value to society so as to realize a sustainable earth.
