Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is a Canadian electricity generation company headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. OPG is one of the largest, most diverse clean electricity generators in North America. Ontario Power Generation is actively exploring new clean technologies and renewable energy sources to support a sustainable energy future.

Currently, 20% of Ontario’s electricity needs come from the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station which is operated by OPG and consists of four nuclear reactors, each with a capacity of 878 megawatts. The Darlington station is known for its high level of safety and operational reliability, and it has received numerous awards and recognition for its outstanding performance.

OPG and its project partners are developing North America’s first grid-scale small modular reactor (SMR) at its Darlington nuclear site. OPG is also exploring other SMR technologies as a possible sources of future power generation. OPG is also the largest hydroelectric generator in Ontario and operates 66 hydroelectric stations across the province. Hydroelectricity is a major part of OPG’s generation mix, accounting for over 30% of their total electricity generation.
