Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is a Canadian electricity generation company headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. OPG is one of the largest, most diverse clean electricity generators in North America. Currently, 20% of Ontario’s electricity needs come from the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station which is operated by OPG and consists of four nuclear reactors, each with a capacity of 878 megawatts. OPG and its project partners are developing North America’s first grid-scale small modular reactor (SMR) at its Darlington nuclear site. OPG is also exploring other SMR technologies as a possible sources of future power generation. OPG is also the largest hydroelectric generator in Ontario and operates 66 hydroelectric stations across the province. Hydroelectricity is a major part of OPG’s generation mix, accounting for over 30% of their total electricity generation.
