AMSilk’s biopolymers solve the world’s challenges
Plastic and petroleum-based materials are used across various sectors; however, these are the materials causing most harm to our planet. Not only is this standard of practice extremely wasteful and harmful to the environment, it is also less efficient than harnessing nature’s own alternatives.
“It all started in 2008 with the idea of the spider thread. AMSilk wants to redefine industries by making biotech materials accessible to everyone, and provide bio-bettering solutions on an industrial scale.”
Ulrich Scherbel, the CEO of AMSilk.
From its humble beginnings in 2008, AMSilk has become the world’s first industrial supplier of smart bio fabricated materials. The company aims to make smart biotech materials a part of everyday life through its customizable solutions. Furthermore, AMSilk’s smart biotech materials outperform fossil-based products not only through their optimal relationship between performance and positive environmental impact, but also through the adaptability of multiple benefits to a broad range of applications.
AMSilk developed a new form of silk polymer from silk proteins, replicating spider silk. This silk does not require actual arachnids, eliminating animal cruelty, and the entire process is completely scalable, which widens the possibilities of scope and application.
AMSilk continues to prove itself as an industry leader and forward-thinker in sustainability. Most recently, the company has been working on several other innovative technology initiatives with a focus on medical devices, textile fibres, and ect.
